Jim's Thoughts - Sunday Afternoon, August 16, 2008

Img214516910Watching Michael Phelps has been awe-inspiring. Eight Gold medals. Unbelievable! One writer called it the “Great Haul of China”. He has been a record setting champion. Listen to Mark Spitz, former Gold Metal icon of the 1972 Munich Games: “”It goes to show you that not only is this guy (Phelps) the greatest swimmer of all time and the greatest Olympian of all time, he’s maybe the greatest athlete of all time,” . “He’s the greatest racer who ever walked on the planet.” Finishing well? I think so. America is proud of her champion.  I am glad that I was a2752205425_8096704303live to see him race.

We too have a race. It happens every day, we live on this side of eternity. We have folk watching. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are partnering with us as we journey though life. We listen to Him and obediently go where he leads everyday. All of heaven is watching and cheering us on. God fills the believer with His Spirit and then uses everyone by living through their unique personality. I sure am glad that God is at work in our lives.

We have been given the privilege of being alive during this time in history. God has great confidence in us for he gave us the chance to be together and work hand in hand as He carries out His perfect will in our life. I am thankful for God's direction in my life.
